At a great moment such as our centennial celebration I cannot but reflect on two famous quotes of that wonderful poet of poets Khalil Gibran. He made many of us marvel with the following two quotes: “You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give:”
“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.” 
The first quote describes well that pioneering effort made one hundred years ago by the early founders of the Curaçaose Voetbal Bond. They and hundreds of others, known and unknown leaders have given so much of themselves during  he course of one hundred years. They are too many to mention at any occasion. Yet too important to ignore or forget. What they built was done with such passion, love and expertise that the diverse organizational structures, at different levels, have withstood the brutal waves of generational forces during ten decades. Groups, teams and federations have worked in a sometime rocky but still lasting harmony with each other. National reorganizations on a political, social and cultural level have not dimmed the love for the beautiful game. On the contrary the love for the game has always helped us discover each other again. 
The pioneers went deep and extracted the best out of themselves for us, so that today we can feel rather safe and comfortable in our present constellation of groups, clubs and federations. They were the bows from which all following generations were sent forth as privileged children. We thank all of them over and over again.
It is to us obvious that the best way we can honor them is by engraving their names and pioneering initiatives in our hearts and in the minds of future generations. As such we have produced this book as a lasting monument of love, to all those Giants of the past who were the bows from which future generations were sent forth.
May they contemplate and cherish our act of gratitude and admiration with a calm and sportsmanlike acknowledgement there in their eternity.
